2004 Limited with 302k and I would still take it anywhere with 0 worries about it making it. If you take care of them the 4.7l is every bit as reliable as the 4.0l, with much better towing and giddy up. Never had to do more than swap out the pump and radiator except regular maintenance.

To an objective eye this could mean that, all the 4.0's are shot and off the road and the 4.7's have lasted and thus available. Or everybody is keeping their 4.0 and the others are selling their 4.7's. And I am seeing much higher prices here from both private parties and dealers than I see else ware. Both dealers and individual sellers are pricing their vehicles about the same , holding on the price. And selling.
I have been shopping for a few months now. About 60 -70% of the WJ's I see for sale are 4.0's.

So i have a 47 in my 06 Dakota and love it haven't had any problems out of it, it has 116k on it now got it when it had 30k. My dad has an 06 Dakota 4.7HO it has like 60k on it no issues there either. Then my mom drives an 04 WJ Overland with the 4.7HO in it and last time i looked it had a little over 260K on it. Now none of us have done anything out side of normal maintenance and are very happy with them. I will say i get the worst MPG of the group and the only difference in the trucks is the engine. So i am a fan of the 4.7 but i do know people that have had valve train issues.
