For those who have 2x6 rockers, I'm getting ready to do this soon as my rockers are fried. How do you tie them into the frame rails. I'm going to add HD's stiffeners on mine. I really don't want to cut into the floor if I can help it.
I just recently did mine, used BJs vid as a reference. I cut at the bend right below the door, and the very outside of the pinch-seam. I haven't tried mine out yet but the guy who helped me did his pretty much the same way, no frame tie ins, and it's held up so far. I only do easy to moderate wheeling, if I was doing anything more I'd strongly consider cutting the floor and tying it in to the rails. If you don't cut the floor then you are just making catch points IMO.
I really like how Atmos' turned out ^^^^. That's proper!!
Thanks for the responses. Atmos, did you weld the supports to the floor pan or only the frame rails and the 2x6?
it's welded to the floor only where the door rests. other than that, welding 3/16 to the thin old jeep sheet metal is an annoyance so I skipped it. it would've been nice to seal it all up with a weld but being tied into the rocker and the frame rail was enough to suit my needs (frame rail is plated too, the only thing that should ever be welded directly to the uniframe is plating itself)

I have HD's stiffeners sitting in the garage. They're going to be my first "jeep" welding project. After that, it'll be the rockers. I've got the 2x6 and some 2x2 angle. I need to pick up some 2x2 tube.
I plan on doing this mod some day as well. (on my rig and my buddies he bought his mid stiffeners already) as I Bought some 2" by 6" for my camper frame. I decided that would be over kill for my trailer and add way to much weight to it. So might as well do the mod.
Following, as I am also just getting ready to install my Hooligan Mid Frame Stiffeners along with my IRO front, I would like to integrate my rock sliders with the body as above, but I hate to cut up a perfect body.... would be a no brainier if my rockers were rusted out. So I am looking on ideas for custom rock sliders and mounts.

The Hooligan Stiffeners are the ones my buddy is installing (Hooligan is local to us). Those things a beefy! I looked at my stock and it is not 2x6 it is 2x4 but it is very heavy gauge, I was thinking that I still will do the mod with it, I might be able to get away with not cutting into the floor to accomplish it. It will be a while before we do his but I'll share when we do.
