I havent been working on vehicles all that long so pardon me if this is a dumb question. I have a 96 XJ Sport with a 3 inch lift. Occasionally, when I accelerate or hit bumps I get a strange sound, which seems to be coming from underneath the center console. It almost sounds like someone's clinking silverware together. I have checked if it is the U-Joint by throwing it in neutral while it's happening but that didnt stop it. Any suggestions for a amateur like myself?
I would look at the exhaust pipe running over the cross member for the trans mount. It has a tendency to get sloppy and vibrate in that location. and also check that the transfer case shift lever is not vibrating as well.

Thank you so much! I just checked the exhaust and that looks like my problem. Much appreciated
