I thought the back of that rig looked familiar, I followed your build over there for a while.

i got a chance to go to the local steel yard today and picked up 20 ft of pipe and a bunch of various sizes of flat bar.
i also picked up a bunch nuts and bolts and stuff

started work on my brackets and bushings.

the bushings are extras from my rough country rebuild kit for my lower control arms.
i got tubing that they fit into and thats the same tubing i am gonna build the rest of the carrier with.

then i took a piece of flat bar and drilled and cut it on the drill press to make brackets

(not mounting spot but same size tube)

the just need a lil grinding and everything shud fit perfect...

tomorrow i am taking the jeep to a friend who has a tube notching attachment for his drill press. thats when the fun begins

I think you completely stole my idea that I was gonna suggest for how to mount the tire...mount hinges on the 45degree brace bar and have a tire carrier that flips back.

still got some more welding and i need to ad another tube for the latch for the floor but its coming along well.

i built a knock off nut to hold it on

flipped up

i found some gas struts that will hold it up i just have to order them

yeah the metal was a lil rusty it was from the scrap pile and it was super cheap. it will clean up nice with some sanding and paint.
