rough idle and stall 95 grand cherokee
I have a 95 grand Cherokee..with a straight 6 I've been having issues with idling the last month or so. What is happening is when I come to a stop my jeep drops idle down to 0 rpms shakes and stalls like its going to die. And then then shoots up to 1000 on the tack. It doesn't happen all the time, and hadn't actually died until last week. After that I had replaced the idle control censor thinking that was the issue due to it being filthy. But it has continued to do so and now died twice more as of last night when stopped at a stop sign for good amount of time.. then waiting at a light. Any advice or suggestion on where I should begin to fix the issues at hand.
searching would bring quicker results and it would help stop the clutter of numerous threads about the same topic but back to your issue. i had the same problem. turned out i just needed to clean my battery connections. it might not be that simple for you. it could be the iac(idle air control) you have to take it out and clean it or replace it. it could be another issue but these are just a couple things to check out.

like i said in my last comment, try cleaning the battery terminals. also clean some of the engine grounds. its free and it just takes about 10 minutes. i was surprised that it was somthing that simple that fixed my rough idling problem. if that doesnt help here is another thread to take a look at.

edit: also clean out the throttle body as well.

I'm going to replace the throttle positioning sensor tomorrow and see if that helps
It has been dying more often. So I'm going to continue to replace little things to see if that helps. I was told to maybe check my plugs and replace those? Sound like a good solution?
