Replace. Unless you have a bore hone. New(not reman) mastercylinders are like 30 buck. Rearending a cop car cuz you threw a cheap rebuilt master on is slightly more. :-). Don't skimp on brake parts.

Who rebuilds master cylinders anymore? Just replace it with a known quality brand, such as Bendix or Raybestos. Be sure to bench bleed the master before installing it.

yeah, master/booster from a 95+ will get you a dual diaphragm booster. twice the stopping power.
there's a wee bit of modding (reaming/grinding) of the pedal rod, but easy and well worth the effort.

Is it OK to get one from a parts store, or is this a part to get from the dealership?
I know the quality of some non-Jeep parts is supremely low. For example the clutch master.

i got mine from the wreckers for 25 bux. that's booster, master and prop valve all attached as one.
keeping the 97+ pedal rod will lift the brake pedal an inch or so, takes a bit of getting used to.
