Default master cylinder

My master cylinder for my brakes is leaking. Should i rebuild or replace it.

Replace. Unless you have a bore hone. New(not reman) mastercylinders are like 30 buck. Rearending a cop car cuz you threw a cheap rebuilt master on is slightly more. :-). Don't skimp on brake parts.

Who rebuilds master cylinders anymore? Just replace it with a known quality brand, such as Bendix or Raybestos. Be sure to bench bleed the master before installing it.

This for the 93?

Cant you get an upgraded master anyway? One from a newer XJ? 96+ iirc....but I could be confused.

yeah, master/booster from a 95+ will get you a dual diaphragm booster. twice the stopping power.
there's a wee bit of modding (reaming/grinding) of the pedal rod, but easy and well worth the effort.

Thats what I thought.

Is it OK to get one from a parts store, or is this a part to get from the dealership?

I know the quality of some non-Jeep parts is supremely low. For example the clutch master.

i got mine from the wreckers for 25 bux. that's booster, master and prop valve all attached as one.

keeping the 97+ pedal rod will lift the brake pedal an inch or so, takes a bit of getting used to.

May have to shorten the rod, then, as I have 3 pedals down there, not just two.

i've heard you can swap the rods, but haven't figured out how with a few i had to play with.

I believe some have put a spacer between the master/booster and the firewall. This lowers the pedal a bit.
