Default FINALLY!

I would like to thank our admin, Lee, AKA OutlawStar for finally creating a section for GC Modified tech. I always wondered why it was lumped into one section while XJ had both. Cheers, congrats to all the GC modders, and enjoy!

Let me add that while there isn't a large majority of people modding Grands VS XJ's, I feel it is going to be growing in the very near future, due to rising costs of used XJ's. I know of one shop out here that is gravitating towards GC mods because of this. Out here, GC's are selling way lower than XJ's. However, the mod scene isn't as heavy. Most people tend to use them as family grocery go getters. I see the scene changing a bit out here, due to that fact. I am looking forward to the posts going in here. Wouldn't mind having a more "comfortable" weekend warrior platform represented here.

Roni, we're starting to get a substantial amount of questions from WK and WK2 owners and Europeans with diesels. I feel like a fool not at least responding to them. I don't want to mislead people with speculation. You might look at the future of adding a section for them.

If you're talking about the WJ, be aware the rear is a 3-link and any radical lifts may need to be changed to a 4-link, especially long arm ones.

I toyed with the idea of selling my xj next year and modifying a grand cherokee. Its only an idea though.

Do it. Lol. Mine only has a 3" IROR kit in it but aside from the tires holding me back, it hasnt let me down yet.

Yeah i like it having oem and mod on their own now.On which grand to buy if you want a hard core off roader the zj is a little easier to lift higher. The wj like said needs a 4 link in the rear which ironman 4x4 makes now but its a weld on.And the wj has the better steering and better lug pattern to me.Only bad thing i can say about the wj is i hate the gas tank placement on it.But some have removed the spare tire well and raised their tanks up.

On modding the WJ, my basic concern is the lack of bumper protection. Those plastic bumpers are called fascia for a reason. You just tap something and there's a lot to get replaced. Steel replacements are expensive and really don't bolt to anything substantial. Don't get me wrong! I love my WJ, but I wouldn't hard core offroad it.

On the other hand, I went exploring with my bone stock WJ once and accidentally wound up on a snowmobile trail! I was proud of the way my jeep made it thru with only a broken muffler clamp! There were small trees, rocks, mudholes, small water crossings, and other nonsense to get thru and I was alone with no cell service! Stupid, I know. These were fireroads I'd driven 20 years before, but boy were they in bad shape since then!

What I'm saying is the WJ is a fair offroad vehicle in stock form. I just needed more ground clearance. I toyed with the idea of a 2" lift, but I didn't want to start a cascade of problems with my DD.
