Been reviewing several head units. Anyone have any experience with these type head units ? 7" flip up screens ? Are they junk, a gimmick ? Do they vibrate, move around while driving. Not so much concerned when wheeling, just close it !

 

Pioneer makes a really nice one with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It's really the only way to get that into an XJ without modifying the stock radio opening for a double DIN unit.

 

Last night just ordered this SoundStream radio.
1 DIN, 7" flip up screen, androis, GPS, inputs and outputs, etc.

Have a SoundStream 2DIN 2 screen with GPS in truck and it works remarkably well.
Hopefully install in a week or two.

I've seen a coupke from aliexpress certified for EU use (you can't swap your electric parts without it in my country) and they work fine, also with GPS, the price start at 100 bucks, the sky is the limit, you know... The thing with the XJ pre facelift is if the screen will fit fine or not under the dashboard

p.s: also, you can install a rear camera with those, pretty usefull.
