Default Pwer out that turns off?

I need a power source on my XJ that turns off when the batter isn't running. I have one of the dual led switches for my light bars and the bottom light doesn't turn off even if the car is off and I can't find a spot that shuts off like this. Any help? Thanks!

technically batteries are always "running." But like Sat said, cig lighter, or anything after your ignition switch.

the thing is when trying to hook to any of that it won't turn the LEDs on. It has to connect to the power wire on the wiring harness as well to tell the LEDs to turn on. There's where my issue is

Are your LEDs run off a relay or just tapped into a 12v source somewhere under the hood?

In simplest fashion, you should just need a source, a switch, and a ground. Hopefully you're switch is a relay

take fused power from the battery into a relay, connect relay to switch, connect switch to cigarette lighter positive.

Well I'm dumb. I connected the power wire to the back of the cigarette lighter...but now the LEDs in the switch don't light up! Haha oh this is a fun puzzle

Edit: Battery must have been just a little too low because when I started her up this morning the switches led's worked...but I'm pretty sure I pulled the connection for the ground wire on my radio when i pulled off the bezel. Just more to do tonight.

black is generally ground. Red is power. Look at your fuse box under the dash, you should have an accessory fuse slot.
