Replaced battery terminals. Battery was dead so I had to jump it. Runs fine for first 10 min or so then gauge jumps to 19 and engine dies. I'm at a loss on this new issue

might be a bad ground --or bad connection some where. check all your grounds and connections; battery, starter, alternator,pcm...everything....it's somewhere, you just have to find it.....if it's not a bad connection then I would move on to bad voltage regular, which I think is inside the pcm , but would start with all the connections and pcm absolutely last

Having the same issue currently. Charged battery and thought it was just that. I was wrong. Getting it towed home at 5am now. Fun stuff. Gonna rip the battery and all those Damn wires out and check em the hard way this afternoon. I need sleep first or I'll put holes in mine. I'll hopefully have some news to post in 12-14 hours. Good luck with yours aswell

Pulled battery and after charging tested good. Started jeep and checked at battery, measured 15-16 volts. With jeep running measured 15-16 volts at alternator. Gauge is still maxing out. If 16 volts isn't an issue I'll go with gauge being bad.

Voltage id say is too high. On 91 and up Ecm regulates alt voltage.

^^^ 15-16 is too high. Not sure of the exact specs but it should be 13.5-13.8

The PCM controls the charging system. You need to put a scan tool on it and check for codes.

possibly check the large cluster of wires that goes along the back of the engine bay. I have had that rub through on multiple Cherokees right at the back of the valve cover. caused charging issues(green wire goes from alt to pcm), caused crank but won't run(wires that go to crank and cam sensors), and a bunch of other issues. just a thought since it's happened to me 3 times
