Default 2000 xj weird noises

Hey guys, so after about 4 months of owning my xj I have decided to fix the electronic locks. Every time I sit in the driver's seat and switch the lock to lock, or unlock, nothing happens but I do hear a small click on the passenger door. Any ideas?

Same here in my '00. Problem with mine is they work for a long time, kick out for a couple days, then work for along time again. Been meaning to go in there. Probably wait till spring. Thinking I am going to start with checking, cleaning, and lubricating the connectors and actuators. Also check the wiring coming in to the door. Something I have been reading about lately. The rods for the locks being bent and not working. Been in there a time or two. Once to fix the speaker and another time to check something. Wondering if I tweaked the rod a little to a point where it kinda works.

Experienced a similar issue after working on my doors, after re-installing the trim panels. Found if the is a slight bent in the actuator rods or interference with the rods, seems they will not freely function. To fix, worked to make sure the rods were aligned and had free movement. Also lubricated the protective woven sleeves with silicon spray.. Hope this helps you..

I had the same issue, after doing some research, I found this.

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/pow...issues-210079/

and the click in the passenger door is the relays that control the door locks. sounds like they are working, so I would try soldering the driver door control board. Kind of a PITA. I just did mine and somehow lost the spring for the window lock,so mine don't lock anymore . but the door locks work now.
