Hi, all. I'm thinking of buying a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk used and my budget is keeping in the 2014 - 2015 range. I was wondering if there were any known issues with these cars that I should look out for or at least be prepared to deal with at some point. Sorry for posting such a vague question but I didn't see any other threads in the forum discussing this. Thanks for the help.

I have a 2014 TH with the 3.2. The transmission shifting often can't make up it's mind and I feel it's too aggressive with the upshifting. The power take off unit and the rear diff are known problem areas. The carrier bearings in the drive shaft rust out and get real noisy. When I had the problem, it cost $600 to replace the shaft because the bearing was not available by itself. The 2014 TrailHawk does not come with the option for the HID headlights, and the stock halogen bulbs are not bright enough and their position so low on the front doesn't help. I upgraded to an aftermarket HID setup that is tremendous improvement. The later years moved the headlights up to a better location. Overall reliability also improved after the 2014 year.
