I took the center trim cover pieces off. But is there something missing here? Like In the hole?

 

I have seen some just like that, and others with a black cap covering the nut on the middle. That black part that looks it it comes apart (it is 2 pieces), is the strut mount support retainer IIRC. I think the cap fits onto the silver bit in the middle. Google 2014 Cherokee strut cover.

I seen the same setup on Darts, too.

 

the black cap is what I meant by trim cover. I took it off just incase there was anything odd looking with the top of the strut.

I mean that hole on both that clearly goes I or the top of the strut area and looks like should be a bolt there? Maybe a drain hole?

 

The socket on the end of the shaft? That's where you can insert a hex key to hold the shaft while you tighten the nut.

 

See the gaps? Holes? Are they normal

 

Oh, that. Nothing is missing, no worries. Thats an alignment hole for the strut mount bearing installation. Those bearings have a slope to them and need to be positioned a certain way so everything else is straight. The bearings have a lip on them with a corresponding hole.

wouldn’t be the only thing to be obviously missing on the car. Not critical but it’s the concept of the thing.


does anyone know of the TPMS sensors have to be recalibrated at a rotation or do they relearn their positions automatically? Right rear appears to be swapped with the front right on the tire pressure sceeen since I’ve added air twice. Oh yeah, it didn’t leak air until they rotated and oil change which I know sounds like a common thing people lie about, but the day before she went to get them I aired her tires cold to the 35 on the door and she came home and they were 43 hot, after cooled they were all around 40, except one wasn42.

these people shouldn’t be allowed to sell products under any manufacturers nameplate they seem perfect for a slimy used car dealer title only. Not a huge fan of FCA Abut even I know this isn’t about the cars quality it’s the service incompetence

 

Trim piece? The rubber top piece you see in FB's picture goes underneath between the body and the top of bearing and isn't visible from above. Yours just looks to be missing the black center cap.

The Jeep should be able to figure out which wheel is where on it's own as there are antennae near each wheel, but it might take 15-30 minutes at speed to do it. It finds the sensors when I swap summer to winter tires after about 15 miles. It's nice that you don't need a dealer of special tool to register new TPMS sensors. I bought a set for $35 on eBay and had the tire place install them when I got the winter tires, and it found them with no issues. I'm probably going to buy another set and replace the existing ones when I get new summer tires this fall, since they're 7 years only now and close to end of life.

 

okay I won’t blame the techs for the tpms being opposite side and corner it’s only aired by me so I can live with that. I check all at the same time regardless of screen even spare

the cap isn’t missing I put them back on. I’m talking about the black skirt around the tower

i also noticed the oil drain plug area has a missing shield /plate that snaps in.. just isn’t there…

and the rear of the car appears to have spots for underbody covers that are not there but I can’t be certain. I see a lot of body holes that have outlines of where a somehing Was once held onto

can I see someone’s 3…2? V6 engine bay?

I a, questioning my sanity because there is no reason any of those should be missing since it has only had oil changes and tires, at least that would make sense..

 

This part? That goes underneath, and the only part you'll see is the center that sticks through the body. It's a rubber pad to help absorb road noise. Mine's a 2014, btw.

 

im talking about the plastic trim cover that is black and probably has push in retainers far away from the top of the tower see my paint is visible? Yours has a plastic cover over the paint and mine looks to have spots for said retainers and the cowl firewall area looks like it had styling and lines where it was supposed to have something covered on the paint by the firewall for beauty or just make it contrast the engine or something it’s not important it’s just the fact she paid for a new vehicle and the people she bought it from are whole fully bad at service but also effectively literally stealing parts by not reinstalling when they were taken off. The ones under car are prob For NVH

 

That's not plastic on mine. That's metal and welded onto the body. It just looks a little different since mine is a 2014.

 

The strut tower on the 2015-2018 looks like yours.

 

So earlier I commented on missing panels under the car, from my research there appears to be a distinction betweeen SKID plates and Underbody protection in service literature. I was wondering if anybody has a pic of the stock under carriage of a KL and if anyone knows if there are panels/skids that are dependant on options?

My grandmas 17 is a Latitude with 4x4 if that means anything. She does have a factory tow package (with the trans cooler, the stiffer rear, the receiver, and a 4 wire hookup)

the panels missing do not seem to be necessary for NVH and I was thinking that perhaps they arent given on every KL or maybe something related to that.


From scouring TSBs I do think she is indeed in need of a transmission update that would be symptom only/customer concern, so the shop isnt at fault for not applying updates as Jeep literature best I can tell is split on mandatory updates / concern based on their computer stations. So if it wasnt mandatory(which would be done anyway), it wouldnt be brought up to a customer who doesnt feel there was any concerns.
