Default no power to factory trailer harness

I have just purchased from a Jeep dealer a 2015 GC Limited with a non-factory trailer hitch installed. OEM trailer wiring harness was in place behind rear bumper but had no power. Was told that dealer had to have the OEM trailer harness turned on by the computer. Took to dealer today and the tech stated that he updated the computer software but still no power to the harness. FYI all fuses have been checked and ok. Does the tech need to do something in addition to updating the software? When I talked to him, he seemed to be at a total loss as to why no power. Thanks for any thoughts.

I thought i read somewhere that a signal had to be sent to Chrysler to recognize and configure it to make it all work, or something like that. They send a signal back to the dealer and thats it. I dont know if this is for all of them or just certain years and setups.

yes the kl uses smart grid. the bcm will need the sales code added, and a proxy alignment preformed. takes about 1 hr to do it.
