My 2016 Cherokee started throwing Thermostat rationality codes then Service electronic throttle control messages. Then this morning I lost "communication" with the TCM. This afternoon (after being parked all day) I plugged in my Innovia code readed and got 28 codes. Almost all seem to relate to communication issues. Worst is a Can C Bus U0001 indicating need to replace the TCM. However I also have com errors with the ECM and BCM as well as many individual systems.
The connector for the OBD unit seems loose. Could that cause those errors? Could I have issues at another connector location? Would re-setting the ECM help?
Vehicle IS having operational issues. Went to neutral and would not engage any gear, slow acceleration (as if not shifting to first), issues are not consistent however and seem to come and go.

These early (2014-2016) Cherokees are known for having transmission issues. You could try resetting the ECM/BCM, but you would probably want to take it to a shop to have it done, as these Fiat ECU's can be tricky. It might end up being a transmission issue itself.

Did a reset yesterday. Two local trips resulted only in the "service electronic throttle" error showing up once. Will have to drive further today and will see if other codes/problems show up. What were the transmission issues? Were they intermittent?
