rokwldr- Check again. i just pulled up the owners manual for the 2020 cherokee on jeep's website. It calls for 0w20 for the 2.4 4 cyl, 5w20 for the 3.2 v6. Perhaps someone accidentally used the wrong cap on the engine oil fill. Please verify before you keep using oil that could cause premature failure.

Mine is a 2019 with the V6 and my manual also says 0-20. I will check online and with the dealer. Thanks.

Post #9 shows the oil recommendation page from the 2019 Cherokee Owners Manual. Of course the OP could have a different manual....

I think we have another rash of people who don't understand the difference between a 2014-present Cherokee (KL) and a 2010-present Grand Cherokee (WK2), who are posting misinformation because they're in the wrong forum.

2020 Cherokee (KL) Owners Manual, Page 449
https://carmanuals2.com/jeep/cheroke...-manual-114349
The 2.4l v4 takes 0W-20
The 3.2l v6 takes 5W-20

2020 GRAND Cherokee (WK2) owners manual, Page 493

The 3.6l v6 takes 0W-20

I think you may have found the problem.

Rokwldr- is it a Cherokee or a GRAND Cherokee?

I'm sorry I forgot the Grand. It's a Grand Cherokee Limited. I have checked the manual, oil fill cap and with Jeep it takes 0-20. The Jeep dealer said it would be OK with 5-20. I won't do that because of warranty.

Cool

This forum is specifically for the Cherokee, the Grand Cherokee shares almost nothing with the Cherokee, they are completely different vehicles with different engines, transmissions, running gear, body parts etc. That’s one reason for all the confusion in this thread. You are welcome here of course, but I suggest you join a Grand Cherokee-specific forum too. You will get more and better answers on this one for example:
