Default Considering a used 2014 Kl

Hello! I am looking at getting a used KL trackhawk but after reading about so many people having issues, I’m worried.

should I look for something more reliable or is it safe to buy one of these out of warranty?

Kl Cherokee doesn't have a Track Hawk model, Grand Cherokee does, if true this is posted in wrong form.

Since the OP sates he is looking for a 2014 KL TrackHawk, he probably means TrailHawk. Or not. If the latter, I’d recommend not getting a 2014 model, there were a number if issues depending on build month. I’d start with MY2016 to be safest.

If you get one, like others have said, go with a 2016 or newer model, as they at least worked out some of the kinks with the ZF 948TE automatic transmission. I know Trailhawk and Trackhawk are confusing to non-Jeep enthusiasts, but the TRACKhawk is ONLY available on the larger GRAND Cherokee, and is a performance-oriented model with 707 HP. The TRAILhawk is available on ALL Jeep models (except for the Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited and Gladiator, where the off-road oriented model is called the Rubicon), and has extra off-road abilities as opposed to other Jeeps (a dual-speed transfer case and a rock-crawling mode on the transfer case). It's definitely the model to go for if you're want that extra off-road ability in a Cherokee. I believe the Active Drive II dual-speed transfer case IS available on other Cherokee models, but most ones don't have it, and it DOESN'T include the Trailhawk's rock crawling mode. Hope this helps a bit.

So even all of the recall transmission reprogramming haven't helped the issues in the '14s?
Reading through some stuff it seems that most of the issues some people have wouldn't really bother me. Besides of course the outright transmission failure and self-destruction.
I'm actually looking at getting a KL Trailhawk but i think the only ones i could possibly afford are all '14s.
Though i do see a '16 Latitude with the AD-II in my price range. but id nickle and dime myself adding tow hooks, skids and a receiver.

Some folks have no problems with their 2014 transmissions, some hate them. PTUs were also a weak spot. It’s your money.....

I have both a 2014 and 2015; the 2015 trans is much smoother; both have been fine except you have to really “feather” the throttle and know when you can punch it, etc. to avoid the gear slam
