Default 4wd drive system unavailable

I have a '14 Cherokee Trailhawk. A couple of times in the last week I have had the message 4wd drive system unavailable pop-up and the svc 4wd light comes on. The thing is that this is only happening when it is raining out, and it does not stick around for long. The first time it showed up the service lite was on for about 10 minutes and then went away, another time it was gone in less than a minute. One time it flashed up and was gone before I could actually have read the message. I would think that if there was an issue outside the electronics the service light would have stayed on. I'm guessing something is just getting wet and that is triggering the issue, how can I track down what this could be?

You didn’t say whether your 4WD works or not. My 2019 was flashing the same error message and the 4WD is not working. It has been at the dealership for over a week getting fixed. They have changed several parts in the rear end but still working on it. Thank goodness for lifetime warranty.

Some fixed thiers by pulling the fuse and plugging it back in.

How much time do you think your 4WD will remain at the dealership getting fixed? One week sounds like a lot for me.

Angry 2018 Jeep Cherokee Svc 4WD

I have 66,000 miles on my Cherokee when the 4X4 went out. 6,000 miles over the warranty, go figure. I live in Co so 4X4 is critical in the snow. I don't go off roading in this car because it sits so low. I'm not happy that I will have the $4-5000 expense on a car with such low mileage. I will dedicate the rest of my life telling the world what they have to look forward to if they buy a Jeep. It looks like this is a chronic issue and Jeep should issue a recall. Never Jeep again...

Short answer, tires size circumference must be within 1/8". Take it to a shop and have them measure the circumference of your tires. Adjust pressure until they are all the same circumference (or buy 4 new) reset the code. Drive away smiling

he most likely purchased the jeep at a dealer that offers a lifetime warranty as long as he owns the vehicle, but the only problem with that is that all your maintenance has to be done through the dealer or licensed facility which will ultimately cost you more in the long run.
