Default 2014 Trailhawk - all gear column lights illuminated

Good day forum..

Curious if anyone knows why all gear column lights illuminate after a while of driving.

I have google searched and will be making the appointment for a service check next week, but thought this might be telling me something I can at least be aware of prior to bringing vehicle in.

2014 Cherokee Trailhawk ~16k miles

Thanks.

Based on the fact that the 9-speed (948TE) transmission is electronically-controlled, I'd guess it'd have something to do with the software. Do you know if all recall fixes have been completed? Because there were some recalls for that transmission, especially for 2014s.

I have the same thing. Good luck. Unless you can duplicate it in front of the dealer, they will find nothing. Getting sick and tired of Jeep. Please post your results. do you also have a shifter message on the display?

Hi Andrea - If a dealer sees a picture of the lit gear indicators and the shifter error in the display, what can you do to help resolve if the dealer says they find nothing?

Hi guitar54,

Generally our dealerships do need to duplicate the concern in order to provide a comprehensive diagnosis; however, a photo can help them narrow things down. I'd be happy to escalate your case to a team who will be best able to assist you further with the recommendation of involving our STAR team, corporate trained technicians who can assist your dealership over the phone. If that is something you are interested in please PM our page with your VIN!

Andrea - I do have pictures from THREE separate incidents where the shifter lights were on and the shifter error displayed in the HID. So I'm skeptical. Even with pictures - the first incident - the dealer could do nothing. See Pics....

Hi Chris,

If you decide to make an appointment we'd recommend showing these to your service advisor, they may still need to duplicate your concern to diagnose your vehicle but photos can be a good starting point. As I said above I'd be happy to escalate your case to a team who will be best able to assist you further with the recommendation of involving our STAR team, corporate trained technicians who can assist your dealership over the phone. Just PM our page and let me know!

Thanks everyone for the continued information.. I have a service appointment for this Friday, 6/23, and then I will update this string with their findings.
I will also take some photos between now and then in the event I need to show them the issue if they cannot recreate it when they have the vehicle.

To follow up on a question above - No, I have not seen a message on my dash sceen indicating the shifter issue.. I have only seen all the lights illuminated as in the photos Guitar54 posted.

Quick update - took my KL to the dealer showing the pictures I posted. 3 different times the problem has shown itself. Finally - the dealer is replacing the shifter assembly. They somehow finally were able to repeat the problem....totally luck but at least it's finally being repaired!

I might add that I did show the pictures to the head of the service department - a new guy who is working to rebuild the service department so he told me he would do anything to help resolve the issue....I'm almost sure this is why they are repairing the fault....key point!
