Default Texas Jeep Newb

Hey guys, stumbled upon this site awhile back while I researching whether or not a Jeep would be a good vehicle to get. Went ahead and picked one up last night, a 1995 Cherokee 4dr 4.0 4x4. It has its fair share of miles, 230k, but during the hour long drive home, it felt like it only had half the miles.

Anyways, I'm new to the Jeep deal, so I'll be here picking ya'lls brains. I'll post pics of the Xj once I'm off work and I figure out how to post them up. Looking forward to learning some new things,

-Eric

Thanks guys. Nah, I don't frequent the Houston area, I pretty much just stay in the North Texas area. Figure that's more than enough territory to roam. Trying to decide what I want to do first as far as lift or what.

Vent visors- cheap and you can drive with the windows open in the rain. Also- get rid of the rear sway-bar.

EvilPopcorn - Yeah, the vent visors may be a must, since I prefer windows down, even in the summers here. But what will I gain from removing the rear sway bar? Right now, my xj is on daily driver status, and probably will be for some time.

I will be doing the following:
-2in lift
-Wider tires (got some taller than stock tires on it now, has slight rub)
-Vent the hood, try and get as much heat out of there as I can since this is Texas
-Fab up a roof rack and tire carrier
-Power Inverter under the seat
-Sound system

I do some hunting/fishing/camping, but not really setting it up for wheeling yet. Still looking for what else I can do that will fit in this category.

X2

I lived in Washington for a long time and the vent visors were a must, it was always raining there.

Yea hood vents are defiantly good too, I got mine off a LeBaron, disconnecting the rear sway-bar will let the rear flex a little more off the road, and you really can't notice any difference when driving around, so really it's a "might as well" case, free, quick, easy, and sets the rear free. Unless you drive around like your in Fast & Furious, you won't even notice it's gone thanks to the leaf-sprung suspension back there. At least, I don't, and I sometimes take corners a little fast.
