Default So Cal Jeep

Hello gentlemen (and ladies). Just picked up my first Jeep last week.

So far I love it. It has a few things that I need to address and any experience you can provide is appreciated.

List of known fixes needed:

Rear Main Seal Leak
Death Wobble (I noticed a bent Sway Link Bar so maybe that's the culprit)
Leaf springs are separating slightly

I have no idea what brand or height the lift is yet. It's got a flow master 40 and KM roof rack and overall in great shape!

Any thoughts or suggestions on things I should do to this baby? Like I said, I'm totally new to the Jeep world so I've got a lot of researching to do!

Welcome! Certainly do some reading about anything XJ related here on the forums or wherever there is useful information. Clean looking Jeep!

Welcome to the forum. Research the RMS and causes that mimic a leaky RMS that are much easier to address than the RMS, itself. Only do the RMS if you absolutely have to.

Sway bar is one of the only components that wouldn't cause Death Wobble but there are plenty of other culprits to investigate. It's a process.

Things to look at for death wobble

- Balance tires
- Steering stabilizer
- Tie rod ends/Front suspension components
I am sure there are other reasons but these a worth a look. Good luck!

Not a steering stabilizer, usually just hides the real culprit. We don't actually need a SS if everything is set up properly

True, fix the real problem and then either don't run one at all or replace your SS if you want to. There are a few threads on here already on that subject.

Thanks guys.

I've got the Jeep in the shop for a checkover this morning to give me a list of things to keep me busy for the next few weeks.

I'll check out the SoCal XJ as well.
