Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum and proud new owner of a 98 sport. Picked it up.for $500 from a kid who crashed it DUI style. It sat for a year after that so yeah it wasn't nice. It needed to be jumped to start it and we used a screwdriver to jump the relay to get it to crank. it worked though. It had no coolant in it and no break fluid. So went back into town picked up 2 gal of distilled water and quart of break fluid. Hooked the radiator up that the lazy bum before didn't finish filled it and drove it out of the field with one foot on the gas and one on the breaks. It wouldn't idle for crap. If u know these jeeps they are picky about dead batteries. After half hour it was fine. Well I got it home and showed the wife and she was less than pleased. O well. I had planned on doing days worth of work on it right away and was off to deal with it. The condenser was in the back and bent up. I flattened it out and got ad running. Replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Now it starts first time every time. Minnesota gut rot hit it hard. When I got home the rear breaks didn't work at all. And I had to fill up break fluid every half hour. The line was rusted out and fluid only worked up front. The driver side rotor see through. So passenger Sid front was the only working one. Ouch. I still went wheeling. I got 3 feet of air, high centered and beat the heck outta it trying to break whatever to have a full list of repairs. Found out the rear u joints were SHOT once it was on the lift. Vaccume canister is missing too so A/C and cruise fight over it its actually kind of funny. Now for lift. I'm putting in S10 leafs for the rear and grand Cherokee coils up front and all new shocks. I painted it navy digital camo with rattle cans cause I hated the baby.blue. my friends and parents love it and I'm pretty happy with the turn out.

Very much so took about 3 days of laughing at how bad it was and a whole day running all new break lines rotors pads drums shoes regulator installing an after market radio cause he took the one in it. Hmmm what else emptying out all the empty beer cans out of it the junk including two stuffed chickens one of which was a drinking game one. Odd... o and getting the mice out and hornets nest out of the gas door. Yikes. Its been interesting. But I have less than a grand into a jeep with AC a kick but paint job. Including insurance too. Plus it gets better milage than my 74 b body that gets 11 MPG highway lol. And at only 171k mile its a lot lower than 386k miles.

I wheel in owatonna my buddy has private land that we keep adding rocks picked from the fields to to make it more of a challange. Theres also a gravel pit that is fun to go into and if it has rained it can get mucky. So if you like mud, sand, gravel, And forest weve got it all. We like to go up there to gilbert for the iron range and camping. Last time we took his grand cherokee and found out how important it is to have a winch. Ive had to winch my butt out on many occasions down here texas so as many on this site want a review on my home made winch bumper and badlands 12000 pound winch here goes. the fairlead was designed to be a crush zone in case of an accident while the rest is designed not to give. I was in an accident with it a couple months ago and totaled out a pick up. No injuries. His box was crushed to half its size. My fairlead bent back as designed to and worked flawlessly. The winch is strong and has been used while submerged in mud and in down poirs. The remote it comes with is cheap and should be kept inside as soon as your done with it. It has been ripped in two by branches and the plug on the end is crap. I gave in and got a wireless controll that i just keep in my glove box till i have to use it. Its not fast but when im playing i dont care. The breakers work that it comes with and i have only had them trip once on a very heavy long hard pull out of some mud i high centered in bad. The only downfall with the cable is its weight. Overall i review badlands 12000lbs winch worth every penny.
