Returning to the family (From XJ to WJ)
Hello everyone,
5 years ago I traded in my trusty and beloved 4.0L XJ Sport with 172K. Got caught up in the idea of getting a more fuel efficient vehicle. Regretted it for a long time, but this past August I got a hold of a 2000 4.0L WJ Laredo with 156K on it and have been happy as a clam. I'm the 3rd owner, bought it from my brother who got it back in 2010 (with 129K). Extensive work has done over the last 7000 miles to keep it on the road, including a complete tranny rebuild, replacement of the torque converter (both @ 153K). A new radiator & water pump (& all hoses), muffler, y pipe, wheel bearings, tie rods, ball joints, steering damper, rear shocks, CPS, and new gaskets just about everywhere. Burns no oil, leaks nothing, engine pulls strong, everything works but the front tweeters on the stereo (oh well). Proud to be back in the fold...still some things I'd like to look into. Sounds like a diesel when cold (mild piston slap?) that lessens/vanishes as it warms up (changing oil this weekend, added seafoam 2 days ago, no change, tailpipe just broke loose from its rear hanger). I'm familiar with just about everything these vehicles are known for so I look forward to where this vehicle will take me. Thanks for reading!!!
