As of yesterday, i checked out a 00 Cherokee Sport 4 dr 4wd. Deal is sealed and set in stone on my end, and hopefully on the other party's end as well. The thing is very well kept with a few MINOR issues, that i will be attending to asap.
I was wondering if there are any issues that i should look into before finishing the deal. Any common problems that i should look at. There's surface rust on the rockers / lower doors that i will be taking care of as well as at the front of the drip rails. Interior is clean aside from one small tear on the drivers side front seat. No other issues, all functions work as far as i can tell. Any input would be appreciated. Seems like a hell of a truck!

Engine - Any leaks (e.g. valve cover gasket), rear main seal
Engine Frame - Has the XJ been wheeled? Any notable damage?
Differentials - Any leaks visible? How are the ball joints and axle shafts?
Suspension - How many miles on it? Original?
Just a few things to look at.

Can you provide more specifics about the XJ? What is the mileage on the vehicle? I just bought one as well. I made sure to look at the following:
Engine - Any leaks (e.g. valve cover gasket), rear main seal
Engine Frame - Has the XJ been wheeled? Any notable damage?
Differentials - Any leaks visible? How are the ball joints and axle shafts?
Suspension - How many miles on it? Original?

Frame is clean
No leaks anywhere, engine/diffs. Ball joints and shafts are new with receipts. He's replacing the thermostat and waterpump based on a hunch. Drove it, ran like a dream. Has new shocks on it, new tires. Guy has receipts for everything. Even had an OBDII scanner handy in case i wanted to check the computer. Doesn't look like it's been offroad at all.

Buy it. As long as the engine sounds good and there's no water in the oil. Sounds like they tried to take good care of it.
