Default Noob in central CO

I was given a 99 Cherokee Sport recently. It had 146,000 miles and one owner before me. She didn't beat it but any kind of maintenance was rare. I plan to get caught up on the maintenance and use the truck to explore our Colorado back country. This is my first 4WD vehicle so all that is new to me.
I just completed a two month-long overhaul of the engine on my 1966 Volvo P1800 and I've worked on many cars and motorcycles over the last 45 years and I'm appreciating the simplicity of the jeep construction.
A number of questions come to mind and I'll try to find the right threads to post them.

I hope to return to your area this year. Last August I came down on my motorcycle to see Hovenweep and Chimney Rock.
Later this week I'll be working a little north of Salida and looking to do some camping when we finish our survey.

Welcome to the site Bob. Jeeps aren't to bad to work on compare to many of the other vehicles out there today. I have an 04 Grand with the 4.0 in it and at least you can get in there and work if you need to.

I changed out my first hub assembly today after talking to some people and watching several You Tube videos. Even working under the miserable conditions I have to work with these days the job took only a little over an hour. Sometimes this jeep doesn't seem much more complicated than my 66 Volvo.

Thanks, Niwot is a nice little town and a bicycle riding destination for me.
