Hi Guys, just joined after finally finding a Cherokee forum. I've switched from LandRover's to a GC Orvis - oh what a lovely swap. Much better in every area especially FUEL! My 4.0l V8 did 9mpg in the city and 14 on the highway. The 4.0l Orvis is nearly double with a light right foot. The build quality also appears much better than the landrover. Only problem I had was with the dealer I bought it from, he told me it had £300 of new brakes, in fact I've spent the last two days changing them all as the pads were almost gone - less than a hairs thickness on the fronts. Anyway I hope to have many happy hours of fun in the car and on here. Any tips are appreciated as GC's are new to me.

Welcome from Wisconsin. I'm not a fan of land rovers. High priced. High cost of up keep. And if I wanted a status symbol, I would be driving a Porsche.

Hi Guys, thanks for the warm welcome. Car has a few snags but hopefully once ironed out it'll be cracking (that's English for "rather good"). I only have 2 snags, one the brakes keep binding on - all 4 and the other is that when cold she revs up before deciding to use 3rd. The 'box problem seems rather popular on here. It may or may not be fixed by an oil change, however I already have a known good box lined up for £200, over here that's a good price. I'm going to check the pedal area for sticking parts for the brakes, if not I already have a new master cylinder. Just hoping the oil change sorts the box as I want to drive it - not work on it! Must say it goes much better than the Discovery even with the brakes binding!
