New guy from TN, great forum, lots of info..Question, I am needing to buy a used Grand Cherokee/Cherokee 4x4, with the price range I am in, it will have to be older and higher mileage. I will get the Inline 6 and would like a manual transmission. What are some things I will need to look out for when buying the older Jeep??

Manual trans in Grand Cherokee's are like unicorns - good luck finding them. They were only available from the factory for two years and I highly doubt there in the state. 5 speed XJs are bit easier to find - I have one - but you should be mindful of their awful factory gear ratio (3.07s) and general lack of amenities. Check for rust (is still an issue here due to negligence) and front suspension components. High mileage ones are liable to suffer from death wobble from a lack of maintenance with tie rods, ***** joints and track bar bushings.
