Question New member not so new XJ

Hey everyone, I bought my first XJ about a week ago. It's a 99, 2 door with a lot of miles on it. I plan to do a lot of work to it, I want to lift it but not more than 3 inches. Anyone with suggestions and helpful hints for a new Jeep owner is appreciated!

welcome to the forum
suggestions?
Start with anything mechanical that needs fixing first before a lift
The I 4.0 motor is a workhorse so don't be concerned about high miles.
Change oil and filter religiously though and it'll last another 100k

Wlecome. Best advice is, research, research, research. And don't cut corners to try and save a buck. Lift blocks are known for causing axle wrap, and add-a-leaf (AAL) kits will cause a stiff ride and sag back to where it was before over time.

Save your money, buy a quality kit, and make sure you also address the other components of the drivetrain and steering that will be effected by lifting it. And defintely, DEFINITELY replace the steering joints on a high-mileage Jeep prior to lifting it. Deathwobble is a reality if you don't.

And as AceWhite noted, make sure the engine and drivetrain is mechanically sound first.
