Default New member with Dad's old '87 Cherokee

My first experience with 4-wheeling was in a rental Wagoneer in Montana in the '60s. I had a great time getting to Indian artifact sites and remote back-packing trail-heads with it. Later, I owned a Scout and a Bronco, which I used in the eastern mountains, farmlands and beaches. Now, I have a Tahoe "Off-Road" version that I don't think can really do any of those things so well. But, it works in the snow and can hold the stuff that I need to carry down the road.

Since my Dad died, his '87 Jeep Cherokee has been sitting in Mom's garage, and I have been keeping the battery charged and driving it a few times a year to keep it functional. Finally, my Mom is ready to part with it.

It is a relatively low mileage vehicle for its age (about 90,000 miles) and in good condition. I really don't have a use for it at this point in my life. It occurred to me that there might be a Cherokee affectionado site on the 'Net with members that would be interested in the vehicle, so I searched and found this forum. I joined, but see that I can't advertise the vehicle in the "For Sale" part of the site until I have made 25 posts. But I don't really have 25 things to say that I think you guys would be interested in, and don't want to anger you folks by making 25 silly posts in an obvious attempt to run up a 25-post total. So, I sent a PM to "Nathan" (the administrator who posted the message about that rule) a couple weeks ago, explaining the situation and asking for his advise on how to proceed, but never got the courtesy of a reply.

My wife's #1 son recently restored an '85 Honda CRX from "junker" status to first-place quality in car showes, and, in the process, became a very active member of a group much like this one. That is why it occurred to me that somebody here might have an interest in my Dad's old Cherokee. I kind of hate the thought of selling it to somebody who will just use it without maintaining it and run it into the ground.

Hopefully, this all makes sense to some of you.

Welcome to CF Steve. Sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad.
Go in the Off Topic Section and there are a few threads there, like 24/7 Post *****, 3 Word Story, where people shoot the bull and/or play word games. You can also go in the Intro section and greet the other new members by answering their Intro threads. You'll get your post count up there in no time.

Default CRX pics for E30

Here is the link to the "build" thread for his CRX:

http://www.redpepperracing.com/forum...topic=26729&hl=

Now he is into the drive-it part of the experience.

But, that car gets a LOT of TLC. He also has a "sport" Jeep of some sort (can't remember the model) that gets all the hard jobs. But, he never goes off-road with the Jeep, either, so it is NOTHING like what you guys probably like to do with your Cherokees.

Welcome to the forum. Where in MD are you? If you've got a price in mind for the 87 you can send me a private message and maybe we'll be able to work something out.
