New Laredo Owners!
Greetings all. We decided today that we needed a third family vehicle, since my 16-year-old son will be driving soon and will be hauling the other kids around. We decided we wanted a 4 X 4, since snow can be pretty harsh here sometimes, and something VERY safe.
Went to CarMax and test drove two 4 X 4s in our price range: a 2006 Trailblazer LS with 33K miles and a 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 57K miles. Both were the same price ($12,998), and even though it had higher mileage, we were so impressed with the Jeep that it now sits in front of our house!
One of the things I've learned over the years is that owning a vehicle can be a LOT easier if you join the enthusiast clubs, where people know a lot about the vehicle. In this case, we have no grand plans for lifts, mods, etc, but figured this is a good way to learn about the Jeep and get most from it.
Here she is:
Now...I need a late-spring snowstorm!

Thanks for the link, Dan in Tenn. Great info. My son is plowing through the owner's manual right now, too.
Here are the other stallions in our stable.
My wife's 2007 CX-9:
And my baby, a 2006 Mazdaspeed6 (also very good in the snow):

Thanks, guys. As we play with the new toy, I'm starting to develop a list of questions. Here's what I have so far:
1. Does the "trail rated" badge really mean anything, or is it just a marketing tag?
2. How do I know if this baby has Quadritrac I, QUadritrac II, or Quadridrive? It's a 4.7L V8, but I can't find that info anywhere....even on the dealer stuff.
Can't wait to find some mud...snow...sand...rocks...something like that.

2.If your Jeep has a 4WD, N, 4-LO selector lever then you have the Quadra-TracII system. See here. http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_specs.htm#TRANSFER --- Scroll down for info. This was in the link from above. I see you haven't done your homework.

OK, OK, so NOW I finally get it. The NV245 = Quadritrac II, which is what I have. And this is the lever in the truck:
I'm mechanically SPED.
