New Jeeper from the UK...
Hi all, after years of fancying an XJ one turned up at a price that I couldn't resist, I snapped it up....
It needs a few jobs doing to it, a little tidying, so far though I'm a very happy owner...
I'm from Sheffield, England and a custom knife maker, having grown up in the cutlery trade we once had here...
See you around, Stu.

Just tonight I discovered a water leak, coolant water, dripping on to my left foot, I imagine heater pipes....

Were you in the vehicle, or in front of it? I need to think where it may have been coming from.

I was in it, driving, the side of my left (clutch) foot was getting wet, when I looked the carpet there was wet through and I could see a steady drip from that top left hand corner of the footwell, just by the heater....

It may be from a leaking heater core, or it may be water that's pooled up in the HVAC housing from the air intake at the base of the windshield. The drain there sometimes gets clogged up with debris, and this causes water to collect to the point that it will run into the heater housing, then onto the floor when it finds an opening. Is the drip you have coolant/antifreeze or water?

Well there's no hoses inside the HVAC housing, so if the cooling system's leaking it must be the heater core. Try putting a cooling system pressure tester on the radiator, then pumping it up to the systems displayed pressure on the rad cap. Then see if it holds that pressure. If not, see if you can spot any leaks in the engine compartment. If none are found, pump it up again, then look for drips inside the vehicle.

I'm thinking access to replace the core will be the fly in the ointment?
