Hey there everyone. Dave here.. I've been Jeeping for sometime, but only purchased a Cherokee Classic a few months ago, and since I'm a huge advocate of community support, here i am.
My current Jeeps..
04 WJ - over 150k miles newest edition to the fam.. daughter drives it now.
99 XJ - Gold in color, my new wheels, has 265387 miles and runs like its brand new. LOVE IT!
My previous Jeeps..
86 YJ - killed trying to drive through a Buick
00 TJ - built into an amazing rock buggy then had to buy something else to drive to work.. sold it.
96 ZJ - drove it until the floor rotted out.. over 300k miles still got $1500 in tradein
03 WJ - over 200k miles when daughter rolled it in the snow, left it running on its side for over an hour.
Im a home mechanic that has done all aspects of car repair. Happy to answer any questions I can, and look forward to getting involved here.
Still a few things on my XJ that I need to look at.. I've already done the following to my XJ:
harmonic balancer
clock spring
water pump
thermostat and tons of hoses
fixed several dash board shorts
reset the ECU to clear unwanted CE light.
replace headliner and visor fabric
replace RF tierod ends
changed all fluids, filters
full tune up
cleaned the hell out of the car. PO used it as a storage bin from 2009. no drive, no registration, no insurance. it was a mess.
new tires
Total investment, including the cost of the vehicle is around $4k.. Drove this truck to DC last weekend, 260 miles each way.. NO ISSUES! and only 1 tank of fuel each way!
I'm going to be modding this one slowly, as she is my DD. I can't afford to get to carried away (did that a few times). But for now, I'm just trying to make her nice ride.
