Default New to Cherokee Forum DFW area

Hello All,

New to Cherokee Forum here in DFW.

I grew up wrenching on my Pop's old Cherokee and it was the car I practically came home from the hospital so I've always had a bit of a soft spot the boxy goodness of an XJ.

That said the poor thing was 2wd so I picked this guy (2000, 105k) up for a steal and short of some rocker rust I'll be knocking out ASAP, it's almost too clean to mess with.

But the future is 33's on 4.5" and a camping and adventure build out. Looking forward to talking with many of y'all here.

Welcome.

Swap to 4wd in the future? If not at last locked rear axle?

My current jeep above is 4wd.

As far as the old one goes yes actually, Once I get this one up and trail ready I will consider that. It does need a new transmission so it would likely be a full 4wd swap (who wants to spend money on a 2wd trans if they can help it...) and then get sent out to the ranch.

Oooooohhhh I read it as this was a 2wd. Not your older one. Ok. Nice jeep man! We'll see you on the forums.

Welcome, buddy. Your build idea is very similar to mine. Moderate off roader, camping, adventure rig. You can follow my build thread, link in my signature. If you start your own build thread I will drop by and subscribe to follow your progress.

Man I think so too. Wish the engine was as pretty as the body but where would the fun be in that.

Fun is right. Nice to have a blank canvas.
