Hello everyone,
I have been reading for a long time,
and most thankful for all the things I learned,
I am in Central NY, and travel on I-81
from Syracuse to Binghamton often.
I am a Jeep enthusiast, love the XJs
however, I got a situation I need help with:
My daughter overheated her 2001 XJ and
needs a goood, competent and honest
mechanic knowledgable about XJ and the 0331
head problems to fix her car.
If you have someone you can recommend
please do, thanks in advance

welcome to the forum and the family.
Unfortunately the 00s and 01 XJs had the crappy head on them. They do make good aftermarket replacement ones.
There are a few threads on here that deal with it. Here's one that you can throw and eyeball on to get an idea of what may be a good replacement head for yours.
You may be looking at a full rebuild depending on the extent of the issue. If your oil is full on "milkshake" the news isn't great. But tons of parts available for XJs still make it a viable option to rebuild. Or even find one already rebuilt and drop it in without it costing an arm and both legs.
