Looking to buy my 1st XJ
I don't know much about Jeeps. I heard the best years for the XJ were 1997, 1998 and 1999? Is this correct? Are there any years I should avoid. My purpose for the XJ will be a weekend toy to ride off road. Leaning towards an Automatic 4 door.
Thanks,

91-99 are all good years in my opinion, some people like the 97 and up body style. I avoid the 00 and later models because of the cracking head issues, low pinion Dana 30 front, extra catalitic converters, and coil on plug instead of a distributitor. If you plan on adding bigger tires or doing any offroading look for one with the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle instead of the Dana 35.
