Default key stolen

Hi all! My Jeep was broken in to last night and they stole my one and only key. Has anyone here re-keyed a 1996 Cherokee XJ?? Thanks!

If you want another key cut, sometimes you can take your title to a Chrysler / Jeep dealership & they can cut a key for you. But, that doesn't really help if the thieves have a key. Maybe add an alarm system???

Or, find a U-pull / pick-a-part yard & grab all 5 locks, if there is a key(s) with a car.
- Left front door lock.
- Right front door lock.
- Hatch / liftgate lock.
- Ignition lock cylinder.
- Glovebox lock.

Hopefully, the Jeep has all matching locks.

I have a locksmith shop in San Antonio. You should call a couple of locksmiths who have storefronts, the older the better, and get a quote. Depending upon how handy you are, you could take the locks to them and save a ton!
