This new Jeep got it for real cheap, like $400. For my daughter's first vehicle, it needs work. Got 220k+ miles on it. New Kuumo tires. Does not burn oil. No leaks other than the usual rear main seal. Not too bad though, it was just a little wet there. Checked all fluids. This truck had over 8 quarts of engine oil, oil all over the engine bay, seems the power steering pump or hose blew up at one time for it has new pump and hoses. Got it all cleaned out. Also seems the transmission oil never got changed. It was black and thick! New fluids and filter installed. The oil filter had to be removed with a huge monkey wrench for it would not budge. Good thing there was allot of room. Man I can sleep in there. Haha. Put in new fluids in the engine and to the proper level. Anyways, there is some noise coming from the rear end. Don't know if its the shoes or the diff. Haven't had a chance to take any of it apart. Also the NSS is having issues, if I pull the gear shift to the left, it starts. Ha. These little issues they got. Also getting the "no response from dash, tap it and it starts to work" issue as well. Took it apart and found no issues. Looks brand new. Well one thing at a time.
This is a father/daughter fixer upper. She's doing most of the hard work while I instruct her how to do it. She will not be relying on any one to fix her vehicle. So here I am checking everyone's issues/fixes.

Welcome to the forum. Rear main seal is not the "usual" suspect. Most often the oil that's seeping out comes from the valve cover, the oil filter adapter o-rings, and the oil pan. Do them before doing main seals.
