Default Howdy from Texas

Hey guys, I'm new to the Jeep world. I've always wanted a Wrangler or an XJ and finally picked one up yesterday. It's a '97 4x4 (not sure which trim it is, no emblems), everything works, cold a/c. It has a small lift, judging by the blocks on the rear it looks like a 2.5". I think it might be a skyjacker since it has their shocks. I bought it from a guy who washes cars at a small dealership that didn't know much about it. On the test drive, I found it had a bad fuel pump and talked him down with that. I walked outta there with the Jeep for $2000, and put a new fuel pump in it today. Runs like a champ. It's all stock, pretty good shape, no rust anywhere, transfer case is smooth as butter. 230k miles but runs and drives like new. I couldn't be happier. I'm usually over on 67-72chevytrucks.com looking at stuff for a '71 C10 I'm rebuilding at the moment. Bought this little XJ to get me from a to b and be our beach cruiser (live 5 miles from the coast). Cool forum from what I've seen and look forward to finding out some more info about this Jeep!

Cool truck, and a very clean XJ. Heck of a deal.

Welcome to CF! Diggin' your xj, it's exactly what I've been looking for as my next project. Good looking little C10 you have as well! I had a 68 C10 LWB, but sold it about 4 years ago. Got a '64 to replace it, but just sold it a couple months ago to my buddy. Hope you enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I've got my eye on the RC 3" kit with full leaf springs and some 31" BFG KM2's. I have the discount tire card so just waiting for a rebate or something to drop. I never really was a fan of lift blocks so they'll be coming out when I can order the RC kit.

emptypockets - that's a sweet looking '64. I had a '66 at one point, lost interest and sold it a few years back. I had the worst feeling of regret after! I came across the '71 and had to have it, love these 67-72's. It's got a semi-mild built 402 I swapped in for that old tired 350, runs like a scalded dog. I'm really lucky to have a girlfriend that loves to ride in it with me too.
