Default Howdy from Amarillo

I have been crawling through the CF forums for a while now so I decided I would just join you. I just bought my third Jeep. The first was a TJ, (everyone has one) the second was an XK, (lifted hemi Commander) and now I just bough a 98 Grand Cherokee. I always wanted one and the price was good.

The good:

~It has a brand new motor with 18k miles left on the warranty (receipt shows a $3500 bill
~The trans was rebuild 2 years ago
~4 inch rough country lift
~Hi flo cat and glasspack

The bad:

~Each bump or turn causes 2 clinks, a clunk and a jingle
~Back bumper got a chunk bitten off by a T-rex
~Driver's seat has a couple of rips in the leather
~It likes to walk all over the place after going through a dip or at speed on the highway
~Typical viscous coupler failure so I took out the front drive shaft

Over the next few months I plan on adding a couple more inches of lift, 35's, manscaping the fenders, roof rack, rear locker and gears, NP242 swap

This is kind of a daily driver so I can't get too wild yet. I do mostly all city driving unless going wheeling or camping. I really look forward to all the great inputs and learning as I go. I try to do all of my own mechanic work. If you have any ideas or suggestions on where to go with this build, I would love to hear them. I prefer to learn from other people's mistakes.

Justin

Justin, how you like that RC lift? Does it ride hard or (like you feel every bump in the road) or is it fairly smooth.

I have a 97 that I'm planning on lifting.

At the moment it rides like a shopping cart on a dirt road. (Maybe a slight exaggeration) but I really want a little better ride. I actually avoid certain roads because it sounds like its falling apart. It is great on big dips and speed bumps but its the little ones that seem to be worse. If it had adjustable control arms, it would probably help. I think it has the lower level 4" lift. I'm ordering long arms this week. If I decide to buy the whole kit instead of the upgrade then ill get rid of all my current stuff.

I was talking to a guy over the weekend that was running a 4" RC lift with 33s the thing was huge. He said the suspension was soft.

He recommended adj. long arms at 4" too.
