Howdy..
Been lurking for some time, figured i'd say hello. The forum here has been growing well.
John B from the Philly suburbs. Been into XJ's since the early 90's when i bought my first. Did the rockcrawling thing and got bored with it, and the rig sat for quite awhile and i contemplated selling it.
I'v always been into camping in the remote backcountry as much as i could so i needed a 4WD vehicle. Decided to lower my lift and rebuild it to make it a better rig to run cross country in. Been working on it since last fall and it's coming around, heres a pic as it sits now.

Welcome to CF from Deep South Texas. Glad you decided to stop lurking and join. That as Kyle already mentioned is one BA Jeep. I like the rooftop tent. Does it sleep well? Is it removeable or a permanent placement on your roof?
Give us more details.

Thanks for the welcome.
It's a work in progress, have quite a few more things planned.
Blue, used to visit relatives in Corpus and spend the summers on Padre Island.
The tent is from Autohome. www.autohomeus.com It is attached to 4 Thule crossbars and is removable when not going to be used, it weighs in at ~125lbs. The Wilderness rack sits on roof when tent is not. I have a camp trailer i'm working on and the tent will eventually sit atop that.
Tent is the large 1.8 model which is roughly the size of a king size bed. The mattress is decent but i use a queen size aerobed with featherbed on it for cooler temps. This tent takes up all the roof area on an XJ at 72" wide.
Heres a pic in the closed position.

Thanks Overland We should move his to OT as we are clogging up the Intro area.
It doesn't take long to get to SPI but I get to it less frequently than CC. I have to take the boss (wife) to regional meetings in CC 'bout 3 times a year. Last was in May. I have relatives in Philly area but have never visited them. Just see them at Weddings and Funerals.

Your Jeep is what owning a Jeep is all about. love the Flat black and olive drab. Tent coming out of roof. Looks like you still got a nice rock crawler if need be. Love the Jeep man. Welcome to CF. Hopefully you can teach us a few things

Welcome from Indiana. I have been following your build on Expedition Portal. Great job. I have been thinking about going more of a backwoods, camping rig with mine. Love to camp and hunt and my daughter is taking an interest in it as well. Great XJ
