I am trying to replace ball joints on my 2000 grand cherokee Laredo and the uppers were smooth and the ones I got have groves can I use them?

Called the parts store and they said aftermarket balljoints are spilned but I can't get them to press in!!!

Are you using a ball joint press? They fit very tightly
