Default time to replace ball joints, which ones to get?

i need to replace my ball joints, theyve gone bad. i was looking at some on rockauto, they range for $7 to $80. im wondering which ones to run? as long as they work and can handle the rocks and mud, i could care less. im just not tryna to spend $300 on new ball joints. thanks.

i was looking at the mevotech ones since they are like $15 each and offer a 5yr/100,000km warranty.

You beat me Gee oh Dee. I couldn't agree more.

$15.00 ball joints are not going to last. And when you have to replace them in short order, that doesn't equate to "value".

And I'm not crazy about installing ball joints.

SPICER.

Yup I cheap'ed out in college with the $15 ones, maybe 1.5-2 years later had to replace them and barely made it home without the lower joint failing on me

You really don't want to go cheap with the ball joints. They are a pain in the A$$ to change out!

I surprised my roommate when I was able to change those balljoints out in about 2 hrs with beer breaks. Coming from the rust belt and now owning a southern car, I still use anti-seize on everything so it all just fell apart once I broke the bolts loose.

I recently got MOOG adjustable joints for the lowers. Offers a it more play when aligning, which the Jeep would not have otherwise.

SPICER.
I replaced all of my ball joints with the cheapies few months ago and now one is starting to act up :'(. Saving for a complete Spicer ones and ordering them by the end of this week.

I lucked out on the ball joint/u-joint kit at harbor freight for $30..now the price seems more than doubled. And yes, the ball & u-joints kit made the whole replacement process only about 1hr long!!!! One of my best tool investments.
