Default Hello from Vancouver!

Hey fellas,

I'm looking seriously at a 1998 Cherokee XJ Sport.

Here are the facts:

176,000km (~110,000miles)
Black
Loaded options - power everything
Stock chromed steelies
Tires are 50%
NO RUST!
Auto transmission
4.0L Inline-6
4x4
Exterior is in good condition.

He wants $2800CDN.

It's been in the same family since new, and the guy who has it is blue collar and seems to know his stuff and followed through on general maintenance.

I test drove it and the trans is pretty clunky. Is that normal for a 90's Jeep?

I want to get a mechanic to check the whole truck out. What specifically should I get him to look at?

I've been driving a stick my whole life so I hate the fact that I may have to drive an auto. How much work is that to change?... A lot I'm guessing!

I want this thing lifted too.

Thanks for looking! I look forward to meeting all the guys in the Jeep community!

Cheers,

Josh G

Except for the trans. it doesn't sound bad.
What happened, did you buy it?
