My name is Don, and I am going to buy a Jeep Cherokee soon here on "Da big Island" , been saving my money and shopping around. Want a fairly decent body and interior, reasonably mechanically sound as I can expect for under 2k worth of Jeep here. My goal is to put the OW617 Merc diesel in one, as they are plentiful and cheap here. In fact, I think I will probably have the motor before I have the Jeep LOL. Fuel is very expensive here, but biodiesel is jeep. There is so very much to do in a 4x4 here that is completely awesome, camping in places that can not be camped in like it any place on the globe- like our green sand beach, made of precious stones from an old volcanic cinder cone. One one other beach like it on the Galapagos Islands, and you can't 4x4 there!

So I will be lurking and learning and will be posting as needed!

What a turn of events. I now have a couple three jeeps, one wrangler and three Zjs.

I guess I could start a couple. Really boring I think- it is slow and a lot of mundane repairs LOL
