Default Hello/Need Advice

What's up folks!! Have to say, this is a pretty bad *** site!! Have a quick question thought, have a line on an 89 xj 4x4 auto 4 liter with 304,000 miles on it for 1k. Should I bite or leave it alone? Basically I need it for a daily driver with a little wheeling every now and then. Putting way too many miles on my Cobra and need something else to drive. Not new to the xj seen and have 20 years behind a wrench, gut tells me to pass but I do know these motors are work horses and have heard of people getting 4 to 5 hundred thousand out of these things. Thanks for any advice!! Jason

Welcome to the site buddy, and show us some pics of your cobra . I wouldn't jump on that XJ with 300k for 1k. Probably beat really bad and wouldn't be a good dd, unless you put a lot of TLC. Maybe if he sold it to you for a couple hundred, but i'd leave it alone. Check craigslist once in while and your XJ will eventually come. For 1k you can find a newer one with less than half the mileage that one has(depending on the year of course).

Welcome to the site. When I was looking I wanted an XJ sooo bad. I looked for six months. Then I found my ZJ which is really clean so I bought it.

AT 300,000 there might not be a to many more miles to wring out of it. Like NorCal said, if it were a couple of hundred I might say why not. You could always look at it and feel the guy out and see how low he'll go on it, look for something better than you'll have a trail rig.

Just some ideas for yah....Tony

As stated above, you might want to pass on that one.

Well, ended up passing on it. I knew it was the right thing to do, just sometimes my lack of patients gets the better of me. Ended up finding a stock 96 Country for $1400 that is in pretty good condition. Can't wait to start throwing some parts at her, but it will be a slow process. As my oh so wonderful wife pointed out I now have three projects going on, my 75 CJ5 that I am doing a frame off on, the XJ I just bought and my baby an 03 Cobra that needs some TLC from being my daily driver for the last year.
