That's some good info. Thanks

but the problem I am having with my jeep right now is there is a noise that is very intermittent it sounds like a chain grinding on a gear I'm guessing its a transfer case issue. but I'm not sure cause it only happens once and a while and only at low speeds. I have a 242 transfer case and a 4.0 if that matters.

You should start a thread in either the Grand Cherokee Tech or Ask A Question Sections. Then you'd get a lot more attention, and a better chance for a reply.
But I don't know the correct answer to what's causing your issue. I don't want to give inaccurate info.
