Greetings. I come in pieces
Greetings all.
Starting XJ #2 and figured I'd sign on here to ask questions as they come and humblebrag about my recent aquisition.
I scored a nice, mostly unmodified '98 XJ yesterday.
From what I can tell (build order is on the way from FCA), this has the Up Country package, but as I've never seen one in person, I'm thinking it might have been modified. Build order should hopefully detail all of that.
Rides high on the ****, and higher than stock. Gotta re-attach the window to the brackets (motors still good).
Metal rear skid. Have the front one, just need to bolt it on, and missing the xfer case skid, though.
Nice, non-period-correct, factory alloys in the back
Kinda barfy alloys (that match style thankfully) in the front
And some unwelcome guests from its long sit (there's at least one in each door jamb) but they've been hosed.
No sign of an external trans oil cooler, which I heard that was part of the package, but haven't really dug into it. Won't be till next weekend probably, as I've got another car's duties to attend to (FWD clutch replacement, yay!)
No compression in cyl #1, but hopefully won't require a complete teardown. We'll see in a few weeks. Other than that there shouldn't be much from getting back on the road.
It's rare to find an un-lifted XJ for decent coin up here, so I'm pretty pleased.

#3
So I got the build order back.
Yeah, it's not an UpCountry package
And yeah, those are blocks under the leaf springs, good call.
It's a mongrel, but dammit, I'm gonna love it anyway! I'll continue details/opinion-polling in the build section.
