Colorado Springs Cherokee...need DRB scan tool help!
Does anyone in the colorado springs have a DRB scan tool to help me with a timing issue. Just replace camshaft synchronizer & camshaft position sensor. Not sure if I got the timing right, after hopefully getting TDC. Thanks

DRB scanners are a few thousand $$.. dealer or a higher end repair shop.
Google the toothpick method of setting this.. you'll find a few threads, some with diagrams showing how it's done.
You could also Google the FSM for your year Jeep.. the procedure will be in there also.

Thanks....I did use the toothpick method, just wanted to make sure everything was good to go.
TDC is when the 1st piston is at the top right? Couldn't find any marks on the crank pully to verify.

You want TDC on compression stroke (vs exhaust stroke).. identifiable by turning engine over with #1 plug out and your finger over hole. Compression will push air out and your finger off the hole. Then you align slot on harmonic balancer with the "0" on timing cover marks.
If you simply brought the #1 piston up and pulled dist you have a 50-50 chance of it being correct.
Turn the motor over doing as I explained and align timing marks, then drop the dist in.
You can probably find pics to aid you here if you search under terms like "Top Dead Center" "Distributor install" etc..

Still running rough....I'm pretty sure its a timing thing. can't seem to figure it out.
I got it right on TDC, put the camshaft synchronizer in, lined up the holes with toothpick, put camshaft position sensor back on and still running rough. Any ideas?

TDC on the compression stroke? Try dropping in advanced or retarded a tooth?
Is it backfiring? This is a 00 or 01? Any check engine light prior..or now?
You can turn the oil pump drive to align the slot with a long screwdriver.
