I'm Smitty. I mostly just read and hang out and not post too often in forums.
I recently got my first Jeep. A 96 2door Sport 5 speed. I assume it's the AX15 but I have no idea what axles I have. I got it cheap because the PO hydrolocked the engine and bent or broke every con rod while driving it through a pond with bald street tires. Not my first 4x4 but I'm new to Jeeps so it's gonna be a cool learning process. The front floor pans are rotted but that seems to be a common thing with these. After I finish the engine swap I'm gonna put a 3.5 or so lift to fit some 31's since the tires are bald. Maybe even a stroker just because I'm a gear head and can't leave things alone. My plans are for this to be a reliable DD toy that I take camping and play with it a bit.

Thanks for the "Welcomes" guys.
RkyMtnH - Thanks for the picture. I'll have to look under my XJ when I get home. Which rear is the more desirable one? If I remember right the Chrysler one is the stronger?

Thanks. I've been a huge fan of them since I was a kid and have owned 2 Fox body's. A silver/gray 86 GT convertible 5 speed nothing special, and a black 92 GT hatchback 5 speed. Loaded inside, leather and the normal bolt-ons, Saleen wing and bumper, cowl hood. Looked and sounded great. I miss her very much.
My daily right now is a 97 V6 auto that I bought with front end damage. Had intentions of dropping in a 460 w/ 5 speed and making it a street sleeper but as things go I got stuck driving it while the wife took my truck. I've got my monies worth out of it. Now that I've got my XJ hopefully I can finally get to it.
I also got a chance to look under my XJ. It's a Dana 35 in the rear. Even saw the 35c cast into the housing.
