Smile Also inherited a jeep

Hello everyone. My name is Kris, From Oshkosh Wi. I inherited a 1991 limited on 9/08. It was actually my mothers until she passed away last November. She didn't drive it much due to her age. But would never sell it to me. Until beginning of last November, She said I could buy it. I took it home for a week. And before I could pay her, She passed on. So I'll never get rid of it, just for sentimental reasons. This Is the first jeep I've owned . So I'm new to this. It had 64,000 miles when I got it. New tires, and exhaust on it, New HID head lamps & fog lamps. "It runs great" I drove it over winter. So it's at 66,000 right now. It has a few things wrong with it. The dreaded headliner sagging. I replaced that last month. The overhead console temp & compass don't work anymore. I found out those are really hard to come by. And ungodly expansive when you do find one. I got rid of the kenwood cassette player, and speakers. there's 2-51/4 speakers in the front doors, 2-6x9's in the back hatch.( I took a router to the fiber glass panel, Opened the speaker holes to fit.) 1-10" sub in a pod in the fender well. All Rockford-Fosgate. A pioneer DEh 900 HHD head unit. (It has a 10 gig hard-drive built into it, Stores 160 hrs. of music.) all powered by a 1400 watt 5 channel amp. Which is under the rear seat. So I'm leaving it pretty much stock, there's a few things I was wondering about. Is it common for the inner fender liners to become brittle, and crack apart? Especailly after 18 years. They just crumble in your fingers. I never heard the tires rub, but they are 235's instead of 215's, as specified. Also is a 2'' lift worth the money ,and effort . I basically go hunting a little , and ice fishing. I do like the rock climbers ( they pretty dam neat ) I was't planning on cutting this up just yet. There's pictures of my jeep in the album

I wouldn't hack that Jeep up with a lift at all. It's a nice example of a survivor. It's not uncommon to see plastic bits fall apart as they get older. Inner fenders are available and fairly cheap and easy to replace. I can see from looking at the Jeep that the rear leafs should be replaced as it's sitting very low. Also, when it's time to replace the tires, I'd personally go back to stock size. That thing is clean, and will do just fine stock for mild off roading when hunting. Again, if it were me, I'd keep it just as it was out of the showroom.

x2. That thing is clean. I would not hack it up either. You can do 1" or 2" coils spacers for the front, and new leafs and put some 235/75/15 in a mud terrain and that thing will take you alot of places.

That's a very clean Jeep. I wouldn't cut it up either.

Thanks Guys, That's kinda of what I was thinking. I was looking at the rear leafs this morning. And I think your right. She is sagging abit. It's hard for me to judge stuff like that. Because every old Cherokee I see has been made into a rock climber. I was already checking into 4 new fender liners, probably add a new set of leafs to the list. I'm planning to buff out the rims this winter, and give them a shot of clear. Already have new original center caps. I won't be driving it this winter. So I'll have plenty of time to work on it. Anyone ever rhino coat the underside, Inside of door panels, fenders, quarters panels? I was thinking about it! Because in spring I wanted to give it a fresh coat of paint. At least by 2011, I was hoping to have it back to showroom (or close to showroom). It would be eligible for collectors plates then. Nice to meet every one, All input greatly appreciated. And still looking for a working overhead console ( digital compass & temp. ) or at least the guts.

You can get a good set of liners and maybe even find that overhead console at the junkyard.

id say go with a moderate 3 inch lift with new coils and springs

put 31x10.5s and itll look clean and stockish but still do great off road
